Will Florida pay toward my child's Christian school tuition?
Programmes, amounts and rules change. Before acting on anything here, check the current details with the official source named in the answer.
Yes. Florida runs the largest school choice programme in the country, and since 2023 every Florida K-12 student is eligible, whatever their family's income. Two programmes matter for most families. The Family Empowerment Scholarship for Educational Options (FES-EO) works like an education savings account and averaged about $8,000 per student in 2025-26. The Florida Tax Credit Scholarship is funded by business tax-credit donations and is applied for through the same application. Families apply through Step Up For Students, Florida's programme administrator, and choose a participating private school; religious schools, including Christian schools, take part in large numbers across the state.
A second programme, the Family Empowerment Scholarship for Students with Unique Abilities (FES-UA), serves students ages 3 to 22 with an IEP or a qualifying diagnosis, and averaged about $10,000 per student in 2025-26. Scholarship money follows the child to the school the family chooses. Application windows and renewal deadlines are set each year by the administrator, so check the current year's dates before you rely on them, and confirm the school you want is a participating school for the coming year.
